Cave Story 26: alarming

Alarms sounded, and the whole building was filled with emerancy sirens.
Annabelle knitted her eyebrows. She was worried about the androids she had saved. Did they rescue the creature they call Balrog? Or did they get captured?

Annabelle bit her lip, and took off her glasses. Her makeup had begun to run off, with all the sweat dripping from her forehead. If they get captured, then they'll investigate the headphone devices that were kept with them... And she'll be in suspicion!

She grabbed the walkie talkie from the table and put on the headphones. She has heard nothing from them at all, and she wanted to make sure they were alright.

"Quote! Curly! Do you read me?" Annabelle pressed a button, yelled into the walkie talkie, hoping someone would answer.


Curly desperately shot more memory-erasing bullets onto the heads of her opponents, and signalled for Balrog to head straight towards the end of the corridor.
Just then, there was a loud vibration in Curly's headphones. Curly heard each word clearly, and it sounded like Annabelle.

Curly spoke into the device, "I'm here, kind lady!"

Annabelle sighed with great relief. "What's the situation now?"


A slight buzz came from the device, before Curly's voice sounded, "We rescued Balrog, but Quote is down! We're on the 3rd floor now!"

The mechanic's heart almost stopped when she heard that the android in the red cap was down. "What happened back there? where are his wounds?"

there was no response for a while.
"Curly? Cur-"

"He was shot by Doctor Mark," Curly muttered into the device. "It was a green glow gun."


Annabelle blinked, and muttered something Curly couldn't hear.

"What was that, kind lady!?" Curly yelled into the device, but was interrupted by more footsteps at the back.
She freed herself from Balrog's grasp, turned and shot at more of the guards.

"Curly! There's the room I was talking about!" Balrog pointed at the door at the very end of the corridor. Curly turned around and stared at the door, a large piece of paper with the words "WEAPON II ROOM" stuck on the wooden surface of the entrance.


Just then, she heard Annabelle's tiny voice again, "After going through that door, there'll be an emergancy vault just behind the cabinets. Go out of there, and you'll be underground. There won't be anymore reception underground until you fully escape, so good luck!"

Curly took a few seconds to absorb all the information she had just gotten, while shooting at more of the guards. She then heard Balrog say, "We gotta find Quote's weapons! I'm sure they're hiding in there!"


Balrog crashed through the door, and heard screams of terror in Weapon II Room.
Large wooden and steel cabinets were lined neatly in the room, and words were labelled at each of the drawers. Document papers flew around, and civilians with coats were fleeing from the scene.

"Oh no... How're we going to find his weapons like that?" Balrog sighed.

As for Curly, she wondered if the weapons Quote had acquired back from the Island were really that important, and how they were significant to Balrog...
